Annual High School Honor Band Festival
UMASS HONOR BAND CANCELLED FOR SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 9THThe UMass Honor Band is cancelled this Saturday due to the unpredictability of the weather for Saturday morning. Please alert all students in involved. Because so many people have expressed an interest in a reschedule date - we have RESCHEDULED the UMass Honor Band for Sunday, May 12, 2013. Dr. Jack Stamp WILL be joining us on that day - so the schedule/day of activities will remain the same. I am deeply sorry for having to cancel - but safety is our number one concern. I also deeply and sincerely hope that you can all attend on Sunday, May 12. If you cannot attend on Sunday, May 12 please alert Charles O'Brien at charleso@music.umass.edu by March 1, 2013. If you cannot attend on Sunday, May 12 we will arrange a refund of the participation fee. All alternates will be invited to attend based on any cancellations for the new May 12 date. Group Online Payment The Honor Band festival includes concurrent high school students (grades 10-12) for a day of exciting music making. They perform with the most outstanding high school musicians from throughout the New England and the northeast, and are led by Dr. James Patrick Miller and a nationally recognized guest. Students who participate in the honor band audition with the UMass applied music faculty and are placed into one of two ensembles. At the end of the full day of music making the students will perform an evening concert in the UMass Fine Arts Center Concert Hall, which is open to the public. Student Application and Teacher Recommendations Forms are available on the UMass Music and Dace Department Homepage. For consideration for participation in the festival, students must participate in their school band programs and be recommended by their teacher/director. |
