Annual High School Honor Band Festival
The Honor Band festival includes concurrent high school students (grades 10-12) for a day of exciting music making. They perform with the most outstanding high school musicians from throughout the New England and the northeast, and are led by Dr. James Patrick Miller and a nationally recognized guest. Students who participate in the honor band audition with the UMass applied music faculty and are placed into one of two ensembles. At the end of the full day of music making the students will perform an evening concert in the UMass Fine Arts Center Concert Hall, which is open to the public. Student Application and Teacher Recommendations Forms are available on the UMass Music and Dace Department Homepage. For consideration for participation in the festival, students must participate in their school band programs and be recommended by their teacher/director.
